SERIOUSLY do yourself a favor and watch this greatness below:
Leave A Trace already had me sold on Chvrches‘ soph LP “Every Open Eye” (out Sept 25th) being utterly amazing. The latest taste we’re getting “Never Ending Circles” is keeping that feeling alive and strong. Stream the glorious track below:
Oh happy day, Chvrches are back with their soph album “Every Open Eye” (out 9/25) on the way and a stellar jam off of it to keep my hopes high that the new LP will be an excellent followup to their stellar debut The Bones Of What You Believe. Do yourself a favor and stream Leave A Trace below:
In a year where I was blasting Taylor Swift like it was my job…1989 is my favorite album of the year. I admit it. I can’t deny that I like to “Shake It Off” and have a dance party in my house every day of the week. This is the one album I can say I never skip a track, I always need to play it in full and usually after CLEAN finishes blasting my ears off I need to go for a round two and “Welcome To New York” is starting again haha! That is not to say I haven’t loved other LP’s this year. I have and I would say they are great but they aren’t 1989. I’ve always liked Tay Tay (hey I am not ashamed to say RED was blasted like no other too) but in 2014 Taylor kind of just blew me away. I never expected to be as obsessed as I am with 1989. We all need an album that just connects with us at a point in our lives and well this did it for me.
I don’t want this to become a Taylor gush fest so let me get to other fave albums this year which include:
Sharon Van Etten/Are We There
STARS/No One Is Lost
Lykke Li/I Never Learn
Iggy Azalea/The New Classic
Sylvan Esso/Sylvan Esso
This post I want to dedicate to not just albums but to my 50 favorite songs of 2014. And yes “Shake It Off,” “Blank Space,” and all of 1989 could be on here. So could top 40 hits like Charli XCX‘s “Boom Clap,” SIA‘s “Chandelier,” Coldplay‘s “Sky Full Of Stars,” Ariana Grande ft The Weeknd’s “Love Me Harder,” Maroon 5‘s “Animals” (don’t judge me haha), anything by Iggy Azalea, or Nick Jonas‘ “Jealous” (again don’t judge me here).
I wanted this compilation of my fave jams of the year to be the songs that didn’t get as much radio play or radio play at all. They were the songs that kept me sane this year, delighted my world and inspired me. They are the reason I want to and love to blog about music.
The artists and bands you will find on my fave jams of 2014 playlist include Future Islands, Banks, Beck, Zola Jesus, Sharon Van Etten, CYHSY ft Matt Berninger, Twin Shadow, Lykke Li, Chet Faker, STARS, Sylvan Esso, Kate Boy, White Sea, Say Lou Lou, HAERTS, BATHS, CARIBOU, Little Daylight, The Preatures, BROODS, The Drums, Small Black ft Frankie Rose, Lust For Youth, M83, Cut Copy, Electric Youth, Ballet School, Wildcat! Wildcat!, GEMS, Woman’s Hour, Torres, terror pigeon!, CHVRCHES, Wolf Alice, PAPA, Delta Spirit, Kevin Drew, Planningtorock, Wye Oak, Diplo ft Edward Droste and Rostam, Fences ft Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Cold War Kids, Jenny Lewis, Mikky Ekko, Young Ejecta, George Maple, Vita Bergen, Made In Heights, Pink Feathers ft SPEAK and last but not least Indiana! So what are you waiting for…get in the end of the year greatness spirit and stream the delightful as fuck jams below:
I kind of am like a kid in a candy store when a playlist of brand new jams include Haerts (ahhhhhhhhhhh finally the debut album is out), Chvrches, T-Swift (Recycle Culture wow wow wow with that remix), and Haim (thank you Calvin Harris so muchhhhhhh). It is kind of like my wildest dreams (get it haha) to have all of them drop new tracks around the same time. And seriously I know I thanked Calvin Harris already but SERIOUSLY to get a HAIM collab is just the perfect way to have me survive while I wait for them to drop new music to follow the stunner of a debut LP “Days Are Gone.”
Then throw into the mix newcomer VERITE (who definitely was a pleasure to see open for KATE BOY at CMJ) and All We Are covering Caribou‘s stellar song “Can’t Do Without You.”
Basically this week’s playlist compiles my faves from the second half of October. So what are you waiting for, I’ve gushed and gushed, stream the delightful as fuck 6 track playlist below:
Ryan Gosling, and CHVRCHES…well sort of. BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe has embarked on creating a brand new soundtrack for the Gosling flick “Drive,” titled Radio 1 Rescores: Drive – Curated by Zane Lowe. The new compilation will feature brand new songs. One amazing trio contributing to this new score is CHVRCHES. And really what is better than starting out the week with a brand spanking damn great CHVRCHES jam. Do yourself a favor and stream Get Away below:
