DYC’s Fave PAINTED Jams

11 Apr

Oh wow April how much I am loving you…music, being on Spring Break, it’s just been a good week.  Saw the Bjork exhibit at MOMA, probably drank too much all week and tonight I’m seeing STARS and Verite at Webster Hall.  I am beyond excited.  Like I can’t even hide it.  So in addition to all the goodies on this week’s playlist I had to throw a little Stars and Verite in at the end.  It was a must!

But for all the new stuff well let’s just start off with MS MR‘s return to the music scene with their hot new track “Painted.”  Will it be in HBO promos for GOT like Bones was?  Probably not but that doesn’t mean it isn’t wonderful in its own right!  Chromatics, and Icky Blossoms busted out new jams from their upcoming albums.  Sharon Van Etten let us in on amazing news that she has a new EP on the way this June and the title track from it duhhh is on this week’s playlist.  Mai Kino, Girl Friend, Day Wave and Ryn Weaver also made the grade.

So I really hope you find at least one new jam to obsess over, and go ahead, what are you waiting for, stream DYC’s Fave Painted Jams playlist below:

DYC’s Fave 50 Jams of 2014

24 Dec

dyc's fave jams of 2014

In a year where I was blasting Taylor Swift like it was my job…1989 is my favorite album of the year.  I admit it.  I can’t deny that I like to “Shake It Off” and have a dance party in my house every day of the week.  This is the one album I can say I never skip a track, I always need to play it in full and usually after CLEAN finishes blasting my ears off I need to go for a round two and “Welcome To New York” is starting again haha!  That is not to say I haven’t loved other LP’s this year.  I have and I would say they are great but they aren’t 1989.  I’ve always liked Tay Tay (hey I am not ashamed to say RED was blasted like no other too) but in 2014 Taylor kind of just blew me away.  I never expected to be as obsessed as I am with 1989.  We all need an album that just connects with us at a point in our lives and well this did it for me.

I don’t want this to become a Taylor gush fest so let me get to other fave albums this year which include:

Sharon Van Etten/Are We There

STARS/No One Is Lost

Future Islands/Singles

Lykke Li/I Never Learn

Iggy Azalea/The New Classic

Sylvan Esso/Sylvan Esso

This post I want to dedicate to not just albums but to my 50 favorite songs of 2014.  And yes “Shake It Off,” “Blank Space,” and all of 1989 could be on here.  So could top 40 hits like Charli XCX‘s “Boom Clap,” SIA‘s “Chandelier,” Coldplay‘s “Sky Full Of Stars,” Ariana Grande ft The Weeknd’s “Love Me Harder,” Maroon 5‘s “Animals” (don’t judge me haha), anything by Iggy Azalea, or Nick Jonas‘ “Jealous” (again don’t judge me here).

I wanted this compilation of my fave jams of the year to be the songs that didn’t get as much radio play or radio play at all. They were the songs that kept me sane this year, delighted my world and inspired me. They are the reason I want to and love to blog about music.

The artists and bands you will find on my fave jams of 2014 playlist include Future Islands, Banks, Beck, Zola Jesus, Sharon Van Etten, CYHSY ft Matt Berninger, Twin Shadow, Lykke Li, Chet Faker, STARS, Sylvan Esso, Kate Boy, White Sea, Say Lou Lou, HAERTS, BATHS, CARIBOU, Little Daylight, The Preatures, BROODS, The Drums, Small Black ft Frankie Rose, Lust For Youth, M83, Cut Copy, Electric Youth, Ballet School, Wildcat! Wildcat!, GEMS, Woman’s Hour, Torres, terror pigeon!, CHVRCHES, Wolf Alice, PAPA, Delta Spirit, Kevin Drew, Planningtorock, Wye Oak, Diplo ft Edward Droste and Rostam, Fences ft Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Cold War Kids, Jenny Lewis, Mikky Ekko, Young Ejecta, George Maple, Vita Bergen, Made In Heights, Pink Feathers ft SPEAK and last but not least Indiana!  So what are you waiting for…get in the end of the year greatness spirit and stream the delightful as fuck jams below:

DYC’s Fave Rock U Jams

11 Oct

Well October is proving to be one incredible month for weather (Go FALL!) and music!  Yes admittedly I am obsessed as I always tend to be when STARS has a new album on the way.  And YES I have been listening to NPR’s first listen stream of “No One Is Lost” all week.  I’m obsessed I admit that.  It is an incredible album, a stellar followup to The North.  I cannot wait to see them at Music Hall Of Williamsburg next month!

But having said all that I did still find time to get hooked on some other songs for this week’s playlist.  Kleerup dropped a hot new wait is that Stevie Nicks’ long lost lovechild track “Rock U” featuring Niki & The Dove!  Ex Cops continue to bust out the greatness with their new one “White Noise.”  Naomi Pilgrim and Tove Styrke dropped new jams that prove why they are definite up and comers to keep an ear on.  Jessie Ware and TV On The Radio both have new LPs on the way and they continue to just drop hottttttttt ones from those albums!  And last by least, more Swedes to become obsessed with.  I’m talking Swedish duo Vita Bergen who have won me over soooo damn easily with their new single “Curtains.”  So what are you waiting for, stream this week’s delightful as fuck playlist below:

Well it is getting closer to the release date of STARS‘ new album “No One Is Lost” and this week of music got me even more excited (and trust me I was already stoked beyond belief for it) for it. Headlining this week’s playlist is their title track No One Is Lost and it is amazing!  And to make this week’s fave jams even better we got new oh so hot tracks from Milo Greene (sounding more like HAIM this time around and well nothing wrong with that), and AlunaGeorge!  Speaking of AlunaGeorge it is unnatural to not instantly love “Supernatural” on a first play and all gazillion plays after! Also added to the mix is Clean Bandit and Jess Glynne who might have topped their hit “Rather Be” with their latest “Real Love.”  Francisco The Man, Asha Ali (such a glorious Swedish/Somali popsongstress and Korallreven close out the playlist and they brought major hotness as well.

Hopefully you will find at least one new jam to obsess over so yes what are you waiting for, stream this week’s delightful as fuck playlist below:
